imm cologne – the trade fair for interior trends
Inspiration, business and networking - with these keywords imm cologne 2023 positioned itself for the first time in June as a trade visitor-only fair. From June 4th to 7th, renowned brands and newcomers of the furniture industry presented their products at the leading trade fair. In order to remain relevant, one thing is important above all: credibility. Products and furnishing concepts must be authentic. That's why the future topics of sustainability and health were particularly in focus, but solutions that offer enough room for individuality were also in demand. From wellness design and healthy living to alternative materials and color trends: We present the current interior trends that make furniture, beds and sleeping accessories a paradise within your own four walls.

The highlight was the ERGO PLUS technology for slat bases. This revolutionary development noticeably improves the lying comfort. The usual straight lying surface can be adjusted to fit the natural shape of the body. Firstly, the slat frame can be raised in the knee area, so that knee joints and hips are relieved. Secondly, the upper area can be raised to balance the blood circulation. This comfortable position makes it easier to fall asleep and sleep through the night - so you feel wonderfully rested during the day!
In terms of bed design, we showed a selected configuration - but visitors were able to browse through the fabric variations to get an idea of how versatile the design options of our beds are. We had chosen an adjustable configuration to demonstrate the individual lying comfort. While trying it out, some interested visitors didn't even want to get up!
The whole Swissflex team would like to thank everyone who visited our stand for the lively interest and the great exchange. 😊
Healthy living: why 2023 is all about wellness design
People are becoming increasingly health-conscious. A development that has a significant influence on interior trends. Since our everyday lives constantly confront us with stressful situations and challenges, it is becoming increasingly important to consciously create a counterbalance. Beautiful furnishings alone are no longer enough; active relaxation is the order of the day. The modern home is therefore becoming more and more like a wellness temple. As a place of refuge and relaxation at the same time, it appeals to our longing to let go of our tension and problems in an atmosphere of well-being. Topics such as mindfulness and health have become increasingly important in recent years, so natural materials, pollutant-free colors and ergonomic shapes are an essential part of interior design. Not only bathrooms with a spa flair, but also comfortable beds and relaxing indoor gardens provide relaxing moments in one's own home. The topic of wellbeing will certainly continue to make big waves in the interior design industry in the future.
Ecological design and alternative materials
Already in past years, the interior trends presented at the imm cologne have become noticeably "greener". Sustainability is a topic that is becoming increasingly urgent against the backdrop of the worsening climate crisis. Be it due to resource scarcity or problems with supply chains - the exhibitors at imm cologne confirmed with their innovations that the future in the interior sector belongs to alternative materials. Exciting approaches and experiments with natural and recycled fibers were also represented at the fair this year. Research is even currently being conducted into building furniture from food scraps or electrical waste.
Things are not quite so adventurous at Swissflex, but sustainability and environmental awareness also play an important role here. Eco-design is the principle according to which our products are designed: even at the product design stage, we pay attention to creating a long-lasting product. In addition, we also partly use recyclable as well as recycled materials.
Daring to be individual
How important is it to you to live authentically and express your personality with your interior design? When it comes to interior design trends in 2023, there is an increasing trend toward more individualization. Retro furniture and cult objects such as inflatable chairs are making a comeback, which shows how important it is to many people to design their homes individually and enjoy experimenting. A particularly nice combination of individuality and sustainability can be found in the unbroken interest in upcycling furniture and used furnishings. Here, more sustainable production chains come to the fore, which promotes a careful and conscious approach to the environment.
The most beautiful color trends
Whenever interior trends are discussed, sooner or later trendy color shades come up. After all, with the right coat of paint, you can give a living space a completely different atmosphere without investing in expensive interior accessories. The light purple Digital Lavender is the undisputed queen among colors in 2023. With its calming effect, the light, feminine tone is especially suitable for a bedroom setting. In combination with light-colored furniture and white curtains, the color creates a particularly elegant feel-good atmosphere. Furthermore, warm earth tones with a cocooning effect, which were already popular in 2022, are once again taking center stage. In 2023, a rusty Bordeaux (Intense Rust) and an apricot-like hue (Apricot Crush) stand out among the color trends. The trend colors are rounded off by an unobtrusive green, which has been appropriately given the name of a trendy drink (Cool Matcha). No matter which color shades inspire you to redesign your living room and bedroom this year - they all conjure up a light atmosphere that makes you optimistic about the future.
